On March 23, 2002, a friend and I flew from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. We then spent the next week on a road trip from Whitehorse to Tukoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, on the Arctic Coast. March is still the end of winter up there, and the last 160 km (100 miles) were on the frozen Mackenzie River Delta and Arctic Ocean. Here's a map of the Dempster Highway and ice road.
